Due to Lance's Crew and the Crimson Crusaders running in parallel, I thought a timeline might be a bit helpful. It's rough, cause some of the stories span long periods of time and there is a lot of overlap. Note: This is not a suggestion that you read the stories in order. I do recommend starting with either the Gabriel or Ash stories and I'm sort of operating on the assumption that you've done that. I'll try to note the chronologically speaking first appearance of various reoccurring characters.

Ashes Underneath

For some reason, my files for The World Less Visible would not sync to my new computer, and its hard to submit to DA from my tablet. Finally fixed the problem, so, huge update. Enjoy.

Lance - (Human? Witch)

Charlotte - (nurse)

Nadim - (weretiger)

Nadim's family was the victim of a rather nasty curse. That was bad enough, but then Nadim was born with enough lycanthropic strains to become a were. When the curse is in effect, Nadim is basically a mindless monster that also happens to be almost completely invulnerable and capable of unleashing a truly incredible amount of violence. Lance was able to stop the curse from continuing in his family line, but is unable to remove it from Nadim himself without killing them both. He can, however, control it, allowing Nadim to lead a life somewhat closer to 'normal'.

Hademi - (Troll)

Hademi is not a nice person, but has put a tiny bit of effort into improvement and thus managed to escape a death sentence. Lance functions as something approaching a parole officer for him.

Fahma - (witch)

Fahma's power makes her excellent at information gathering, and she was forcibly recruited by the Cabal. After Lance had to clean up a mess they made and realized her situation, he demanded her as his 'fee' and they chose not to argue with him.

Andrej - (human lawyer)

Let's just say Andrej learned the hard way to read all contracts before signing them.

Khandro - (vegan vampire)

His step-sister got in with the vampires, and dragged him into the mess against his will. Being that he is a practicing Buddhist with a very strong tendency toward pacifism, it got awkward.

Ismael - ('master' vampire)

Ismael was a member of the foreign legion when he learned about vampires and was eventually turned. He succeeded in killing his master and was thus elevated to that position. Technically a member of the Cabal, but rather notorious for never updating his contact information.

Dylan - (human)

Though human, Dylan grew up among werewolves. He is the fraternal twin of the late Javier.

Gloilyn - (pixie)

Somewhat smarter and less chaotic (and a bit more powerful) than other pixies. Also, careful. She does bite.

Mifz - (goblin)

Goblins have the blood of both dwarves and elves, though it is extremely diluted. Most look like severely deformed humans, which is why Mifz typically wears a scarf to hide her features.

Rashid - (human)

Unlike every other member of Lance's crew, Rashid actually knows how to change a tire and check the oil. Bharat has noted that Rashid's superpower is 'having basic common sense' and that he's arguably the most important member of the squad for that reason.

Elijah - (human witch, ex-cabal)

His squad went after someone they shouldn't have and Elijah was taken prisoner. Rather than arrange a rescue, the Cabal wrote him off as an 'apology gift'. He's just a tiny bit bitter about that.

Radovan - (witchwolf)

Radovan's power is silence, which carries with it the unfortunate side effect of rendering him deaf and mute. His former pack was not particularly kind to him about this.

Ravi - (You know him as Bharat)

Joel - Human witch

Leader of a Cabal team. Lance called dibs on killing him.

Hector - Human

Regional commander of a cabal team in Mexico. Friend to Dylan and Ismael

Finally found my login again. It's been a while.

Let's see:

Niece is in college and nephew is graduating. Niece is in a relationship serious enough that I've started putting money aside for wedding expenses.

Went through some major health issues (thank you, COVID) and am now semi-disabled. Can't do the morning run anymore without nearly dying. Was in the hospital for a couple months. Ventilators are not fun.

Moved. Smaller house on a bigger lot with a pond. Planted some fruit trees that have thus far failed to provide me with any fruit.

Hope some of you are still around and doing well.
